We only ask the government to allow us the freedom to apply the Torah in accordance with our values.

We have over incarcerated our youth as well as our adults, but we've also done it in a particularly poor way with the inclusion of SROs at our schools, so, one of the things that I've been focusing on is: What should the role of law enforcement be inside our schools? And I am a proponent of, first, eliminating SROs and diverting that money back to school counselors. So many of our students go to schools without counselors or nurses, and those should be the first-line responders when it comes to solving student problems.

I think of myself, i struggled with math. And if I was sitting in that classroom, I needed help, I had questions, I needed somebody to break it down a different way, and there was nobody who has the content knowledge to do that, I (would) shut down. When he ran two election cycles ago, he ran as a Democrat and I think he really forgot that parents and students in Florida want school choice and we're not going to turn our back on the support that we've had for all of these years, for almost a decade now, from governors who have supported choice in the state of Florida, what he's trying to achieve, I really think he thinks that we have amnesia. I agree that something needs to be done to make college a more affordable option for students and make sure they aren’t burdened by debt for decades. However, this is not how I would have done it, i would have liked to see a more targeted approach and a way to pay for this plan. This announcement by President Biden is no way to make policy and sidesteps Congress and our oversight and fiscal responsibilities, any plan to address student debt should go through the legislative process, and it should be more targeted and paid for, so it doesn’t add to the deficit. The president’s plan also doesn’t address the underlying issue of the affordability of higher education, and it is clear that the high cost continues to limit opportunities available to students.
