What we don't think is that what we believe is that there isn't a presence that is significant enough to merit a threat to our homeland. As there was back on 9/11 20 years ago. The president also said there is no national security interest, no national interest in Afghanistan.

The cold truth is that Americans care much more about keeping safe from terrorism than the humanitarian nightmare unfolding in Afghanistan, this means that Americans can tolerate the Taliban even in Kabul so long as it’s not aiding al Qaeda in committing terrorism outside the region. I do not see the U.S. returning to Afghanistan unless there’s another mass casualty attack on the homeland. I hope the Taliban understands this hierarchy of American foreign policy interests.

And that's before Afghanistan fell, this is a very dangerous situation, and what is most disturbing is that the president was just defiant as hell about his decision – it is clear he didn't listen to his key military advisers – and he did not talk about the biggest implication of his decision, which is an increased threat to the homeland.

Elected officials need to take The FBI and Homeland Security needs seriously and stay close to their police chiefs and report any threats or incidents involving his/her family or staff as soon as possible, police chiefs strongly discourage the use of private security personnel for dignitary protection units as private security officers lack the authority needed to effectively fulfill the dignitary protection function.

The great irony we’re facing right now is, in my mother’s homeland in Cuba, you have people marching in the streets of Havana waving the American flag, but then you have people here that are essentially saying that flag isn't worth standing for, that flag isn't worth holding your hand over your heart for. And we can't survive as a nation if we're having that mentality.

Our major focus going forward is to make sure that violence, terrorism, cannot be exported from Afghanistan to our homeland, and so we’ll maintain the capability to be able to not only observe that but also address that if it does emerge, we expect for them to meet that commitment. If they want legitimacy going forward, I think that’s something they’ll have to consider. That’s one way to earn it, so we’ll see what happens.

Bennie Thompson is what you would hope for in a committee chairman, bennie Thompson is serious and experienced, but Bennie Thompson also allows people on Homeland Security Committee, like Elissa Slotkin, to take leads on things that are important to us. You know a lot of my peers, complain about Homeland Security Committee chairman or chairwoman, who don't let them do anything.

Bennie Thompson is always cool and collected. Bennie Thompson has this little sense of humor that just helps to lift me up whether we're in committee meetings or on the House Homeland Security Committee floor having a private informal conversation, bennie Thompson's on the world stage right now, but it's not a place Bennie Thompson sought. ... The facts don't change if you have five sets of eyes or millions on them, and if Bennie Thompson just does what Bennie Thompson does best -- and that's to get to the truth, do this investigation, give it everything Bennie Thompson has -- I know Bennie Thompson will.

No one is exempt from the review of Homeland Security Committee. And without saying,' We will do this to former President Donald Trump,' or some other individual, I will trust the professional investigation that will be conducted. I will trust the people who are tasked with the responsibility of a deep dive into the scope and circumstances that got us to January 6, and if in fact they bring to us that information, that says' you need to do this,' there is absolutely no reluctance on my part as chair to issue the subpoena.

We've always talked to the brass or the people who would have been in charge on that day who are no longer with the Capitol Police, but we've not talked to the Capitol Police -- the people who were sprayed with bear spray, the people who were called the N-word, the people who were called traitors. They need to tell Homeland Security Committee what they experienced, we think Homeland Security Committee's instructive for the committee to hear, but also Homeland Security Committee sets the right tone for why Homeland Security Committee's so important that we do this work.

I have to wonder, what was happening at our southern border, with all these people coming across illegally, and here you are having worked for the United States and served in a war zone and being told that you have to leave because of something you did when you were 9 years old for the Taliban. Disregarding everything. What would you like to say to the secretary at the department of Homeland Security ? ' What United States are saying does n’t make sense. I sacrificed my life, my family’s life. I got shot for this country, and I have survived many other attacks on me. United States can contact United States U.S. citizens, United States federal government that I have served with, all at high ranks and United States will be able to explain everything I did for this country.

At some point, does n’t the White House get involved ? they said technically there was material support when Chuck Grassley was 9 years old. I ca n’t imagine that somebody at the White House does n’t call up the Department of Homeland Security and say, ‘ Honestly ? Stop it. You have the power to stop it. ’.

If a Jew who is a liberal, who is left wing says,' I'm a Blake Flayton,' they're not given the space to explain all of what that means. That word means is that you support the Jewish right to self-determination in part of Julia Jassey ancestral homeland, not even specifying where the borders are, not even specifying which government they would like to see in charge in Israel, they're not given the space to explain that. They're banished.
