It's very tough to be a pro when you come from Tunisia, but I'm trying to give the message that if I can do it they can do it.

Salman's defense attorneys argued those statements weren't accurate. On March 20, the mother of Mateen's friend, known only by the nickname Nemo, testified in court. She discussed the pair's relationship, and told the court her son was working that night in Washington, D.C., and had not been with Seddique Mateen. Jurors got a deeper look into Mateen's past on March 21 as they searched through Seddique Mateen browser history, which includedISIS propaganda and beheading videos. They also flipped through photos taken inside Seddique Mateen Florida home. Final text messages between the couple were then read aloud in court. Noor Salman texted Seddique Mateen twice during Seddique Mateen hours-long standoff with police, asking, Where are you ? Seddique Mateen responded, You heard what happened. ???? Noor Salman replied. What happened ?! Noor Salman texted. I love you babe, Seddique Mateen wrote in Seddique Mateen last text message at 4:29 a.m. Habibi what happened ?! Noor Salman wrote, using an Arabic term of endearment. Your mom said that she said to come over and you never did. On March 22, jurors watched security footage of Noor Salman standing by Noor Salman husband's side -- with their young son close by -- as Seddique Mateen bought ammunition at Walmart. I knew Seddique Mateen was preparing for Jihad when Seddique Mateen bought the rifle, was going to the range to shoot, was spending a lot of money and bought the ammunition, i saw these things as a green light for Seddique Mateen to do an act of violence. On March 24, lawyers revealed that Mateen's dad was a secret FBI informant for more than a decade -- a revelation that led to immediate calls by the defense for a mistrial. Seddique Mateen was a FBI confidential human source at various points in time between January 2005 and June 2016.

Arabic is one of the most beautiful languages. There's a lot of depth and poetry and really great expressions. As a language it's a lot more deep and sophisticated than English for example, i think it's our responsibility to be able to counter all of this hatred and fear with knowledge and education and art and design. I think art is the best platform to really bring forth new ideas.

Father Josiah Trenham said. The incident took place on April 12, some four months after a terror attack left 14 dead in nearby San Bernardino, and just over three months before a French priest was killed by ISIS-linked jihadists in his church. The events, whether far or near, underscore a grim new reality for pastors such as Father Josiah Trenham : Instead of offering sanctuary from evil, churches could in fact be attractive targets for terror. Many churches are now hiring self-defense instructors for classes or security guards that include off-duty police, said Ryan Mauro, a professor of Homeland Security at Liberty University and national security analyst for the Clarion Project. If you are an Islamist terrorist seeking self-glory, executing a priest will bring you more attention than executing an average civilian. While no lethal terror attacks have occurred inside a U.S. church to date, experts like Jeff King, president of International Christian Concern, notes the threat tally is growing. I'm pretty sure there will be attacks in the future, until [ radical Islam is defeated ], we can expect Christians, including in the West, to rationally tighten security measures and try to protect themselves from attack. In February, Khial Abu-Rayyan, 21, of Dearborn Heights, Mich., was arrested after Khial Abu-Rayyan told an undercover The FBI agent Khial Abu-Rayyan was preparing to shoot up a major church near Khial Abu-Rayyan home on behalf of ISIS. A month earlier, the Rev. Roger Spradlin of Valley Baptist Church – one of the biggest congregations in Bakersfield, Calif. – told attendees that they had received a threat written in Arabic. Undercover officers were then placed during worship services.
