Meenakshisundaram Ramasamy Viswanathan (1 July 1945 – 22 March 2020), best known by his stage name Visu, was an Indian writer, director, stage, film and television actor and talk-show host. Visu initially worked as an assistant to director K. Balachander until becoming a director himself. He later began acting, with his first film being Kudumbam Oru Kadambam (1981), directed by S. P. Muthuraman.

Visu, born 1941 is a Tamil writer, director, stage, film and television actor and talk show host from the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Visu fine tuned his directorial skills under the mentor-ship of legendary K. Balachander until becoming a full fledged director. He ventured into acting in his self directed Tamil Movie, Kudumbam Oru Kadambam meaning family is a mixture, which was a talk of the period for its crisp story line, sensitive story, sensational dialogues and timed jokes. Furtheron, he directed movies like Samsaram Adhu Minsaaram which was remade in almost in all Indian languages based on a short story, Thirumathi oru Vegumathi, Manal Kayiru etc. A philanthropist, Visu had been supporting the needy thorough his own foundation. The Program at Jaya TV "Visuvin Makkal Arangam" had been serving for a genuine cause since its inception. The same type of program Arratai Arangam was hosted by him in Sun TV. Though he could serve thorough a registered foundation, he had been using the program as a tool/media to reach the common man.
