pleasure principle
The pleasure principle is a psychoanalytic theory proposed by Sigmund Freud suggesting that people seek pleasure and avoid pain in order to satisfy biological and psychological needs. It refers to the instinctive drive to seek immediate gratification and release, often through the fulfillment of basic needs, desires, and urges. This principle dominates the id part of the mind, often ignoring the potential consequences of actions in pursuit of immediate satisfaction.
