    PCD is the self-titled debut studio album by American girl group The Pussycat Dolls, released on September 13, 2005 by A&M Records and Interscope Records. Singers Melody Thornton and Nicole Scherzinger were added to the group and after releasing two singles, the album was released. The majority of the album was produced by Ron Fair and Tal Herzberg with other producers contributing: Timbaland, CeeLo Green, will.i.am, and Rich Harrison, amongst others. It incorporates a mixture of contemporary pop, dance, R&B originals, jazz-influenced tracks, and cover versions. Lyrically, most of the songs from the album discuss the theme of female empowerment, while a few other songs talk about sex and feminism. The group have cited among their influences Gwen Stefani, Janet Jackson, M.I.A. and Paula Abdul. PCD is their only album to feature all six original members of the group. Upon its release, PCD received generally mixed reviews from music critics, who were particularly critical of the covers that made up the second half of the record. However, the album received multiple accolades including a Grammy Award nomination. Commercially, PCD debuted at number five on the US Billboard 200 chart.
