Mbaise
Mbaise is a region in Imo State in southeastern Nigeria. In the heart of Igboland, the region includes several towns and cities. It is a group of indigenous clans, connected by intermarriage. With a population density of over 1,000 people per square kilometer, Mbaise is West Africa's most densely-populated area; its 2006 population was 611,204. The name "Mbaise" was derived from five clans: Agbaja, Ahiara, Ekwereazu, Ezi na Ihite and Oke Uvuru. The three local government areas of Mbaise cover about 404 km2 (156 sq mi); Aboh Mbaise covers 185 km2 (71 sq mi), Ahiazu Mbaise covers 111 km2 (43 sq mi), and Ezinihitte Mbaise covers 108 km2 (42 sq mi).

Mbaise is an Igbo speaking sub nation, located in South Eastern region of Nigeria and precisely a constituent of present day Owerri geopolitical zone in Imo State. Mbaise is geopolitical amalgamation of five originally independent clans namely; Abgaja, Ahiara, Ekwereazu, Ezinihitte and Oke-Uvuru, located between latitude 5 to 60 North and Longitude 7 to 7.50 East and covering a mass area of about 500 square kilometers. The land mass is bounded on the North by Ehime Mbano and Obowu local government areas, Ikeduru local government areas occupy the West boundary while Ngor Okpuala and Owerri North local government areas are on the Southern demarcate. The Eastern boundary axis of Mbaise has the Imo River which separates the sub-nation from Abia State and specifically Ngwa land, a sub-nation she shares common heritage. Ezinihitte Mbaise, Ahiazu Mbaise and Aboh Mbaise Local Government Areas are present constituents of Mbaise.
