Wikipedia

  1. karting

Kart racing or karting is a road racing variant of motorsport with open-wheel, four-wheeled vehicles known as go-karts or shifter karts. They are usually raced on scaled-down circuits, although some professional kart races are also held on full-size motorsport circuits. Karting is commonly perceived as the stepping stone to the higher ranks of motorsports, with most of the Formula One—including Sebastian Vettel, Nico Rosberg, Ayrton Senna, Max Verstappen, Lewis Hamilton, Michael Schumacher, Kimi Räikkönen, and Fernando Alonso—having begun their careers in karting. Karts vary widely in speed, and some (known as superkarts) can reach speeds exceeding 161 kilometres per hour (100 mph), while recreational go-karts intended for the general public may be limited to lower speeds.

This is Mick's very first year in a formula series. He has to learn a lot of new things and make a lot of new experiences because the difference between karting and formula cars is quite big, give him time, don't over-react in terms of expectations and just have him go step by step. Of course he will try and do his very best but he also has to learn a lot. This is really just the start of it.

  2. Ben Payne:

A gaming PC and rig and screens is a damn sight cheaper than going karting every weekend. And I think the skill set is there, putting a timescale on it is tough because esports is so fast moving and motorsport is also. But I think there will definitely be someone in F1 from a gaming background soon.

Back in 2008 we were getting letters and emails from people who wanted their kids to be like Lewis. Numerous people were selling their houses to go karting and taking their kids out of school, one or two British families sold what sounded like great houses to move to Italy to go karting. I have no idea where they are now.

I am just aware that there is most likely going to be at least one 10 place penalty in the future because I have got one more reprimand to go, when I was in karting there was one steward, he was just there to make everyone's weekend a bad weekend. Families would turn up and spend so much money to be there... and he was just there to ruin people's weekends.

  5. Lewis Hamilton:

It's quite similar to back in the karting days, At that age it was as intense as I had experienced. I wanted to win back then and nothing's changed.
