jalapeno
The jalapeño (UK: HAL-ə-PAY-nyoh, US: HAHL-, Spanish: [xalaˈpeɲo] (listen)) is a medium-sized chili pepper pod type cultivar of the species Capsicum annuum. A mature jalapeño chili is 5–10 cm (2–4 in) long and hangs down with a round, firm, smooth flesh of 25–38 mm (1–1+1⁄2 in) wide. It can have a range of pungency, with Scoville heat units of 4,000 to 8,500. Commonly picked and consumed while still green, it is occasionally allowed to fully ripen and turn red, orange, or yellow. It is wider and generally milder than the similar Serrano pepper.

jalapeno
A jalapeño is a type of chili pepper that originates from Mexico and is known for its medium to hot spice level. It is widely used in Mexican cuisine and other spicy dishes, and can be consumed both raw and cooked. Jalapeños are rich in vitamins A and C, and capsaicin, the compound that gives them their heat. The name jalapeño comes from Jalapa, the capital city of the Mexican state of Veracruz where the pepper is said to have been cultivated first.

Jalapeño
The jalapeño is a medium-sized chili pepper. A mature jalapeño fruit is 2–3½ inches long and is commonly picked and consumed while still green, but occasionally it is allowed to fully ripen and turn crimson red. It is a cultivar of the species Capsicum annuum originating in Mexico, which is a bush that grows 2–4 feet tall. It is named after Xalapa, Veracruz, where it was traditionally cultivated. About 160 square kilometres are dedicated for the cultivation in Mexico, primarily in the Papaloapan river basin in the north of the state of Veracruz and in the Delicias, Chihuahua, area. Jalapeños are cultivated on smaller scales in Jalisco, Nayarit, Sonora, Sinaloa, and Chiapas. Jalapeño juice is often used as a remedy for seasonal allergies and cardiovascular problems.
