itsu
itsu, previously Tsu, is a chain of Asian-inspired eat-in and takeaway restaurants in London, England. There are two main restaurants in Chelsea and Notting Hill, plus a further forty branches, with many providing a delivery service. The chain was founded by Julian Metcalfe, co-founder of sandwich chain Pret a Manger and founder of Metcalfe's Food Company, in partnership with Clive Schlee. Itsu opened three new shops in 2012 in Chancery Lane, Bankside and Old Broadstreet with a further store in New Oxford Street opening in February 2013. The new stores are designed by architecture firm CADA and incorporate feature lighting by Cinimod Studio. Afroditi Kassa designed the original butterfly logo, original store interiors and Itsu brand. In March 2012 Metcalfe's Food Company run by Robert Jakobi launched the Itsu brand into retail under the name "Itsu Grocery" In February 2013 Metcalfe's Food Company launched "iced i.teas" for sale in Waitrose, and in April 2013 they launched their miso soups into Sainsbury's. Metcalfe's Food Company also makes pre-bagged popcorn under the brand Metcalfe's Skinny Topcorn with five flavours of popcorn available in retailers including Itsu. In 2006, Itsu opened a branch in New York City's financial district at the World Financial Center. This store, however, is now under new ownership under the name Yushi Sushi.
