Wikipedia
copaiba balsam
Copaifera officinalis, the copaiba balsam, is a species of flowering plant in the family Fabaceae, native to Bolivia, Brazil, and Venezuela. It has been introduced to Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Trinidad and Tobago, Sierra Leone, India, and Sri Lanka. Like other members of its genus, its trunks are tapped for its oleoresin, sometimes termed balsam of copaiba or, when refined, copaiba oil, which has industrial, artisanal, and medicinal purposes. Its oleoresin exhibits better bactericidal activity against common pathogens than that of Copaifera langsdorffii.
ChatGPT
copaiba balsam
Copaiba balsam is a liquid resin derived from the South American tree of the Copaifera species, most commonly Copaifera reticulata or Copaifera officinalis. This balsam is produced through a wound in the tree trunk, which causes the tree to produce a thick, sticky, pale yellow fluid. This fluid has been used for years in traditional medicine due to its potential health benefits such as reduction of inflammation and pain relief, and it is also used in cosmetic and perfume industries due to its distinctive woody, slightly sweet aroma.
