Cherasco
Cherasco is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Cuneo in the Italian region Piedmont, located about 50 kilometres (31 mi) southeast of Turin and about 40 kilometres (25 mi) northeast of Cuneo. As of 1-1-2017, it had a population of 9096 and an area of 81.2 square kilometres (31.4 sq mi).The municipality of Cherasco contains the frazioni (subdivisions, mainly villages and hamlets) of Bricco de' Faule, Cappellazzo, Meane, Roreto, San Bartolomeo, San Giovanni, Sant'Antonio and Veglia. Cherasco borders the following municipalities: Bra, Cavallermaggiore, Cervere, La Morra, Marene, Narzole, and Salmour. The Cherasco Synagogue in the old Jewish ghetto has a notable Baroque Torah ark and bimah. The Visconti Castle is a medieval one, uilt in the 14th century by Luchino Visconti, Lord of Milan, and partly reconstructed at the beginning of the 20th century.On 28 April 1796 in Cherasco was signed an armistice between Victor Amadeus III of Sardinia and Napoleon Bonaparte.

cherasco
A town of Piedmont, situated on the Tanaro. A peace was concluded here between Louis XIII. of France and the Duke of Savoy, in 1631. On April 26, 1796, the place was taken by the French, and here, three days after, the “Armistice of Cherasco” was concluded between the Sardinian commissioners and Napoleon, by which the latter obtained the right of free passage for his troops through the Sardinian states; and the treaty that followed gave to the French republic Savoy, Nice, and the possessions of Piedmont to the westward of the highest ridge of the Alps.
