  2. Ryan Coogler:

I haven't spoken about a Chad publicly beyond writing some words, but what I will say about Chadwick Boseman is that I love him. And I miss him, his talent was so potent that even though the was only with us for a limited amount of time, he gave us so much. He gave us an infinite amount of gifts even in that limited amount of time.

  3. King Westbrook:

Simply put, we have a lot of great Black actors, and a lot of great Black men in America. Chadwick Boseman was the best of both worlds, there is absolutely nothing more important to me than my children, and I believe Kian is that much better that he got to see the kind and intelligent human being that Chadwick Boseman was. A great Black man, a great American.

  4. Howard University:

  5. Steven Soderbergh:

That was something we were going to do well before the nominations came out -- we talked about that in January. It's our belief -- that I think is not unfounded -- that actors' speeches tend to be more dramatic than producers' speeches. And so we thought it might be fun to mix it up, especially if people didn't know that was coming, so that was always part of the plan. And then when the nominations came out and there was even the possibility that Chadwick could win posthumously, our feeling was if he were to win and his widow were to speak on his behalf, there would be nowhere to go after that. So we stuck with it.
