Wikipedia

  1. trainers

Sneakers (also called trainers, athletic shoes, tennis shoes, gym shoes, kicks, sport shoes, flats, running shoes, or runners) are shoes primarily designed for sports or other forms of physical exercise, but which are also widely used for everyday casual wear. Since their popularization by companies such as Converse, Nike and Spalding in the mid 20th century, they have become attire, with variety growing in many global markets exponentially. Like other parts of the global clothing industry, manufacture of shoes is heavily concentrated in Asia with nine in ten shoes produced in that region.Contemporary sneakers are largely made from synthetic materials, and the materials and manufacturing process produce, on average, about 14 kg (31 lb) of CO2 emissions. Some companies are trying to substitute more sustainable materials in their manufacture. About 90% of shoes end up in landfills at end of life.

A couple minutes before warm-ups, (Murray) came back to the locker room and (said) ‘Hey, I don’t know if I can play, I’m going to try in warm-ups.’ and then a couple of minutes into warm-ups, I just was skating by the bench. One of the trainers just gave me the point and I was like, ‘All right, let’s do it.’.

  2. Manager David Ross:

We didn’t deal with this last year and feel very fortunate in that way, you’re worried about the health and well-being of others and I think it hits home every time my phone rings and it's one of the docs or trainers. Your heart stings. And we’re trying to win ballgames, too.

  3. Mark Todd:

My role with the Brazilians is a training one but also in an advisory role. Obviously when I get there I can’t be training them and riding myself so I’ve had to put in place different trainers for them, they are going OK. They are a young nation and they don’t have many riders and don’t have many horses so we’ve just got our fingers crossed a bit. If we get their best team, they could surprise a few people.

  4. Modoc National Forest:

Several trainers have already stepped up committing to some of these horses, horses can also be sold to sanctuaries, become ranch stock horses, packing horses, or to buyers that may send them to slaughter.

According to The GBGB, roughly a quarter of the dogs were given new homes and 60 percent were taken into a greyhound charity. Trudy Baker, coordinator of Greyt Exploitations, a nonprofit aimed to protect greyhounds, says even when the dogs were retired, they stayed in a dangerous environment. VOLUNTEERS WORK TO RESCUE MORE THAN 500 GREYHOUNDS SET FOR CHINESE MEAT MARKET The truth is hundreds of dogs listed as retired by The GBGB still remain in a commercial environment, confined to trainers kennels that have failed to comply with an agreed British Standard Institute specification, either used for breeding, forced to routinely donate blood or simply awaiting rehoming, Trudy Baker said.No amount of ineffective window dressing welfare commitments will address the suffering and deaths of thousands of dogs racing on dangerously configured tracks. Mark Bird, the managing director at The GBGB, says the industry needs increased and sustained funding to allow welfare programs to flourish for the greyhounds. For others, transparency is key to helping the greyhounds. Transparency is key to understanding how we can improve welfare standards... We want more greyhounds to find new homes and to enjoy a healthy retirement when they leave the sport.
