Wiktionary

  1. powertrainnoun

The group of components in a vehicle that generate power and deliver it to the road surface, water, or air.

Wikipedia

  1. Powertrain

A drivetrain (also frequently spelled as drive train or sometimes drive-train) is the group of components that deliver mechanical power from the prime mover to the driven components. In automotive engineering, the drivetrain is the components of a motor vehicle that deliver power to the drive wheels. This excludes the engine or motor that generates the power. In marine applications, the drive shaft will drive a propeller, thruster, or waterjet rather than a drive axle, while the actual engine might be similar to an automotive engine. Other machinery, equipment and vehicles may also use a drivetrain to deliver power from the engine(s) to the driven components. In contrast, the powertrain is considered to include both the engine and/or motor(s) as well as the drivetrain.

Wikidata

  1. Powertrain

In a motor vehicle, the term powertrain or powerplant refers to the group of components that generate power and deliver it to the road surface, water, or air. This includes the engine, transmission, drive shafts, differentials, and the final drive. Sometimes "powertrain" is used to refer to simply the engine and transmission, including the other components only if they are integral to the transmission. In a carriage or wagon, running gear designates the wheels and axles in distinction from the body. A motor vehicle's driveline or drivetrain consists of the parts of the powertrain excluding the engine and transmission. It is the portion of a vehicle, after the transmission, that changes depending on whether a vehicle is front-wheel, rear-wheel, or four-wheel drive, or less-common six-wheel or eight-wheel drive. In a wider sense, the power-train includes all of its components used to transform stored energy into kinetic energy for propulsion purposes. This includes the utilization of multiple power sources and non–wheel-based vehicles.

The increased availability of electric powertrains in the market is definitely advantageous and makes it easier for new players to enter the market, for us, new market entrants are customers just like established carmakers. I commend General Motors leadership for coming to Toledo Powertrain today. The workers deserve that. My questions are : Why did it go this far ? Why did it take multiple incidents over years before it was addressed ? why did I have to leave my career because [ of ] the racial hostility in the work environment ? Why wasn't it taken seriously when these incidents were reported over and over again ? Diversity and inclusiveness should be more than a general statement.
