Overbrook is an underdeveloped community located in the east end of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It is across from the Rideau River from the neighbourhoods of Lower Town and Sandy Hill, and just to the south of Vanier, Rockcliffe Park and New Edinburgh. To the east of Overbrook are the suburbs of Gloucester. Overbrook has a very small surrounding, and a high population density. The neighbourhood of Overbrook's Main Street is Queen Mary St., which runs from North River Rd. to St. Laurent Boulevard.Borders Of Overbrook include St.Laurent Blvd,Donald Rd,Coventry Rd & Vanier Pkwy. This neighbourhood's main area to the people who live there are from Lola St. to Quill St, and from Presland Rd to King George St. Overbrook is bordered by major streets Vanier Parkway (west), St. Laurent Blvd (east), Coventry Rd (south) and McArthur Avenue (north). According to the 2006 Census, the community has a population of 9,437, with the largest immigrant groups being Lebaneseand Haitian. Roman Catholicism is the predominant religion, observed by 5,685 residents. Immigration, especially from Lebanon, has caused a continuing increase in Muslim devotion; it is the second-most popular religion with 1,135 followers. Over the years the crime rate has risen in Overbrook and remains a top priority for police and the community. In 2006, gang and drug trafficking set a new record reaching its all-time highest state since 1997/1998. The area has been the focal point for hardcore addicts, dealers and low income families with its inexpensive living accommodations.
