Wikipedia
Kazoo
The kazoo is an American musical instrument that adds a "buzzing" timbral quality to a player's voice when the player vocalizes into it. It is a type of mirliton (which itself is a membranophone), one of a class of instruments which modifies its player's voice by way of a vibrating membrane of goldbeater's skin or material with similar characteristics. Similar hide-covered vibrating and voice-changing instruments have been used in Africa for hundreds of years.

kazoo
A kazoo is a simple musical instrument that produces a buzzing or vibrating sound when a person hums or sings into it. It typically consists of a small tube with a membrane or resonator at one end and an open hole at the other end. As the person vocalizes or hums into the kazoo, the membrane vibrates, amplifying and altering the sound to create a unique buzzing effect. Kazoos are often used in musical performances, gatherings, or as a fun and playful instrument for children.

Kazoo
The kazoo is a musical instrument which adds a "buzzing" timbral quality to a player's voice when the player vocalizes into it. The kazoo is a type of mirliton, which is a membranophone – a device which modifies the sound of a person's voice by way of a vibrating membrane. "Kazoo" was the name given by Warren Herbert Frost to his invention in Patent #270,543 issued on January 9, 1883. In the text of the patent he refers to it as "This instrument or toy, to which I propose to give the name 'kazoo'." This first kazoo was not the familiar "submarine" shape.
