Wikipedia

  1. Indrani

Indrani (Sanskrit: इन्द्राणी, IAST: Indrāṇī), is a Hindu goddess, also known as Shachi (Sanskrit: शची, IAST: Śacī), associated with beauty, sensuality, jealousy, and rage. Described as the daughter of the asura Puloman, she is the wife of Indra and the queen of devas. Due to her heavenly beauty and sensuality, Indrani was desired by many men, many of whom tried to forcefully marry her. According to a legend, when Indra hid from everyone, Nahusha, a mortal king of the Lunar dynasty, became the ruler of heaven. After Nahusha became lustful and tried to make Indrani his queen, she cleverly executed various plans and dethroned him. Indrani is sometimes identified as a Matrika (mother goddess) and is an important goddess in Shaktism, a major sect of Hinduism. She is rarely worshipped as an independent deity and is most often worshipped with Indra. Indrani is mentioned in the texts of other religions such as Jainism and Buddhism.
