Wikidata

  1. Bubbles

Reginald "Bubbles" Cousins is a fictional character on the HBO drama The Wire, played by actor Andre Royo. Bubbles is a recovering heroin addict. His real name is not revealed until a fourth-season episode when he is called "Mr. Cousins" and in the fifth-season premiere when he is called "Reginald". Bubbles has a son named KeyShawn, who lives with his mother. Bubbles is a crucial informant for the police throughout the series due to his extraordinarily detailed knowledge of the streets of Baltimore and their inhabitants. Despite his long-standing history of heroin abuse, Bubbles is an intelligent and compassionate man who genuinely cares about his friend Johnny Weeks and Sherrod, the teenager he "adopts". His struggle to deal with his addiction and make a better life for himself is a major sub-plot over the course of the five seasons of the series.

Examples of Bubbles in a Sentence

  1. Dong Baozhen:

There are big bubbles in consumer, health care and liquor stocks, with valuations of some of these shares exceeding their previous record highs, their rally has nothing to do with fundamentals now and poses huge risks for investors.

  2. Gabriele Ponti:

The chimneys are the exhaust pipes connecting the activity of the galactic center with the Fermi bubbles.

  3. Marc Ambinder:

In the United States, the idea of a deep state offends our common notions of representative government and transparency, so it’s easy to use the term as a weapon against enemies and as a catch-all explanation when things don’t go the way they ought to. This is dangerous because we live in our bubbles, and we are less likely to accept the non-conspiratorial answer for something if it doesn’t fit for our preconceptions.

  4. Edwin Hubbel Chapin:

Do not judge from mere appearances; for the lift laughter that bubbles on the lip often mantles over the depths of sadness, and the serious look may be the sober veil that covers a divine peace and joy. The bosom can ache beneath diamond brooches; and many a blithe heart dances under coarse wool.

  5. Yang Hai:

The government is facing a dilemma. Businesses are struggling under the current environment so NDRC hopes rate cuts can reduce their cost burden, but easing monetary policies further risks fuelling property price bubbles, as people have little inclination to invest in the real economy.
