A button is a fastener that joins two pieces of fabric together by slipping through a loop or by sliding through a buttonhole. In modern clothing and fashion design, buttons are commonly made of plastic but also may be made of metal, wood, or seashell. Buttons can also be used on containers such as wallets and bags. Buttons may be sewn onto garments and similar items exclusively for purposes of ornamentation. In the applied arts and craft, a button can be an example of folk art, studio craft, or even a miniature work of art. In archaeology, a button can be a significant artifact.

"Buttons" is a song recorded by American girl group The Pussycat Dolls from their debut studio album, PCD. The song was co-written by Sean Garrett, Jamal Jones, Jason Perry, Nicole Scherzinger and Calvin Broadus while the production was handled by Jones under his stage name Polow Da Don. "Buttons" was released for a digital download on April 11, as the fourth single of PCD and was serviced to contemporary hit radio in the United States on May 8. Musically, "Buttons" dance-pop and R&B song which uses Middle Eastern music. The song's lyrics speak of a woman's desire to be undressed. Critics were divided on "Buttons"; some complimented the song's production, however, others criticized for following the same formula of previous singles. The song reached the top-five in countries such as Australia, Germany, and the United Kingdom. The song reached number one in Austria and in New Zealand were it became their fourth consecutive number one single on the chart. It peaked at number three on the US Billboard Hot 100, and sold over two million digital copies in the United States, making The Pussycat Dolls the first female group in digital history to have three singles pass the two million mark in digital sales.
