It stings. I played some great golf, i feel like I was in it the entire time mentally this time. I didn’t have too many mental lapses like I have other tournaments where I’ve been close to the lead in the last couple years. So feel like I was there. Just got to keep chugging.

I definitely had some lingering stuff going last year coming from my back throughout the year, and kind of end of the year I decided I was n’t good physically, I was n’t good mentally and I needed to take some time, and so I did. The tour has been phenomenal with that supporting me. Really dove into the mental side and believe it or not, the better I got mentally, the better my back got.

It’s unsurprising that NEA leadership is demonizing parents and concerned citizens who've expressed their concerns about the state of America's schools – after all, over the past two years it’s become abundantly clear that union leaders' primary objective is to maintain their iron grip on power –student achievement and welfare be damned, learning loss has disproportionately impacted disadvantaged students, and mental health of students and parents alike have suffered. Yet when individuals try to raise these points, they are smeared as ‘radical’ and ‘extremist’ in an attempt to shame, silence, and marginalize families.

As the saying goes, what goes around comes around. We live in remarkably stressful and rather apocalyptic times where stress-related difficulties create a tsunami of mental health challenges, when we are kind to others they typically are kind back to us, a positive boomerang effect, that then can lower stress, anxiety, depression, for all of us.

Jules, getting to know him, he’s an emotional guy. Because he puts so much into what he does. He probably wasn’t happy about that. Honestly, no big deal in my opinion. The dude played hard as hell, he fought extremely hard and he played well. So when you give everything you have for something and you put so much into something and it doesn’t work out or you’re being called out, sometimes it’s frustrating, but it’s the business that we’re in. And Julius is the image of the franchise. He’s the star player. Of course, he’s going to get more criticism. But that comes with it. And I think he understands it. If I remember well, his first year here he was getting booed consistently and then he bounced back and had an incredible season last year, so that shows a lot of mental toughness. So I’m not worried about Julius at all.

At the precinct level, someone comes in for a petty theft, we're at the policing level, you identify that they have a mental health issue, instead of locking them up -- let's defer prosecution, let's have a local community-based organization that deals with mental health illnesses handle it right at the precinct -- that's the coordination that we need, there's no reason to put someone( with) mental health illness in Rikers Island, Rikers Island's Rikers Island.

There is no stronger protective factor for kids than their primary caregiver's mental health, we know from decades of research that when parents are unhappy or highly distressed, this inevitably negatively affects their parenting behaviors, so it's incumbent on us as a society to figure out how to bring continuous and sustained support for people who are raising the next generation.

You know, players last year, you know, the situation where … I mean, look, there’s multiple situations. But, where things come up, where we can be helpful, we try to do that. I didn’t really see what happened yesterday, so this isn’t about that, it’s just in general, that’s how we try to handle the mental health side of it, very important, and it’s something everybody’s very aware of. We talk about it on a pretty regular basis. Football players are tough, they like to block out, and try to block out distractions and things that could affect them on the football field. But, at the same time, you’ve gotta live your life and deal with other things. And, so, it’s trying to find that balance.

I’m all about lengthening and toning, i don’t do heavy weights. I don’t really do anything too intense. It’s more cardio and stretching and yoga and keeping long, lean muscles as opposed to doing a bunch of reps with weights. I usually [work out] six days a week [but] it’s more of a mental thing. Mentally, I feel so much better after I work out. I would say an hour a day, sometimes two hours. It just depends, but I’ve learned to not be so hard on myself.
