| Kindom | A gender-inclusive term for the compassionate and inclusive reign of God, used in some progressive churches/worship communities, to replace the masculine term “Kingdom of God” in Christian scripture and tradition. The reference to the “kinship” of all humankind, as well as kinship shared with all of God’s creatures, is alluded to by the initial syllable “kin.” Rejection of a monarchical—as well as a masculine—view of the Divine is implied. Typically capitalized (“Kindom”). |
