hiberniaHibernia. I believe it means winter. The Spanish for winter is invierno. The French for winter is l'hiver. Both come from the Latin "Hibernia". From what I have read, having lived in Ireland for 2 years of high school and 4 years at Trinity College, the Romans came on a bad weather day (fortnight, month - one can only imagine) and they left soon after. That is to say they did not wish to stay on account of the awful weather. That is probably the reason for their naming of Eire as Hibernia.
